LLOYDMINSTER RENAL DIALYSIS DEPARTMENT UPGRADE
One of the highest healthcare priorities in our community is addressing the critical needs of the Lloydminster Renal Dialysis Program. Lloydminster Region Health Foundation donors are passionate about enhancing this program in the Lloydminster Region, and we know that through our communities support we can champion this cause AND save lives.
Dialysis is used to keep patients with kidney failure alive. It is a process in which a patient’s blood is cleansed of toxic substances and excess water. Most people need 3 treatments every week. Each treatment lasts 4 hours. The alternative to dialysis is kidney transplant. There are many, many people in our community who are affected by Kidney Disease; over 2,800 dialysis runs were provided in 2014.
The Lloydminster Program is administered by the Northern Alberta Renal Program, through Alberta Health at the Lloydminster Hospital. We have a catchment population area of 72,000 people accessing healthcare in Lloydminster. Currently, there is a waiting list for Dialysis, and we have, and will continue to see people on the wait list and needing to access this care outside our community.
Our goal is to build the foundation for this enhancement project. Our goal is to raise $1.5 million dollars to assist in the re-location of the Dialysis Unit to a new and enhanced space in our community that can better serve the needs of the staff and patients of this unit.
We know that with YOUR help, we will “catapult” Dialysis Enhancements in Lloydminster, to the next level.
HEALTH FOUNDATION GOAL FOR CONTRIBUTION TO THE RENAL DIALYSIS PROGRAM = $1,500,000.00
